Training Providers

Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) are bodies certified to assess and deliver nationally recognised qualifications.
These bodies are required to demonstrate that they adhere to the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) to ensure qualifications are delivered at a high standard Australia-wide.
Each RTO is required to details its scope of registration which states which qualifications they deliver, to what industry/field, and how many qualifications it can issue.
RTOs can be TAFE, colleges, community education providers, schools, industry bodies or higher education institutions.

If you are an apprentice or trainee, it’s likely that your employer would select the RTO to conduct your training on your behalf, however sometimes you may need to choose an RTO yourself.
When choosing an RTO, remember to take into account:
1. Do they deliver the course you need? Is it on their scope of registration?
2. How much does it cost? Am I eligible for any funding?
3. How do they deliver training? Face-to-face (if so, when is the course offered), online, via correspondence etc? Does this suit you?
4. How long does it take? The actual length of the course depends on their delivery method.
To find an RTO, and also to see their scope of registration, visit the National Training Information Service (NTIS) website.

Some industry bodies can also provide funding for training. The Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) offers funding available from the Building and Construction Industry Training Fund (BCITF). Individuals and organisations are eligible provided they are not a state or commonwealth government organisation. For more information call CSQ on 1800 798 488.
